We are a well established restoration and instrument making business based in the UK. With almost 30 years of experience in the craft, Gerard Murphy graduated from the musical instrument faculty of The London Guildhall University and enjoys sharing his love of luxurious materials and passion for the violin with customers the world over.
Gerard's expertise and keen eye have been used by restoration departments in some of London's best known auction houses, where he was able to familiarise himself with the finest instruments in circulation and delighted at the opportunity to work on old master instruments before they were catalogued.
Our workshop produces instruments for all levels of player, from novice to professional. Chances are, if you are an experienced player, you will have heard an instrument that has been touched by Gerard. We take care, utmost care with all our instruments and for bespoke pieces, whether they be exact copies of old instruments or made to specification, there is a waiting period of approximately six months.
We have just launched our electric violin, called The Lady Stanton and we can customise to suit the individual. Again there is a waiting period of one month. More information and stats will be added to the Electric violin page soon.
Our current projects include the exact recreation of two Joseph Guarneri's for international clients, the restoration of two Italian violins circa 1735 and 1717, and a copy of a Vuillaume cello. Aside from this, our workshop is busily working daily on violin repairs and restorations, as well as varnish cleaning and bow rehair.
Visits by appointment are generally preferred.
